What’s On

Tor Snyder, Hi, Is This Still Available

Embrace your Strange at this year’s Strange Festival

Things are going to get Strange at London Court from 16 -25 June.  Strange Festival is taking over the old Tudor laneway with installations, exhibitions, and experiences. The program features the cream of emerging, established, reputable and experimental artists who have all produced original distinctive works that fit the brief of celebrating the misfits and the misunderstood, with a 95% West Australian contingent. Some of the London Court artists featured will be Zarin Salahi with The Building Collection,

“The building collection narrates everyday life and emotions through the buildings where we are living around the world. This collection includes acrylic paintings and coloured pencils on cotton paper which are animated digitally.”

What do you get when you combine a comedian, a pandemic and a piece of vintage furniture you found on the side of the road? Absolutely nothing. Except when comedian, Tor Snyder, after performing comedy for 10 years, is forced on hiatus in 2020 turned her attention to flipping furniture and more recently, upholstery. Her comedic style is as eclectic as her taste in furniture, blending sarcasm, wit, and a touch of absurdity to create a unique and hilarious experience. When she’s not making audiences laugh, she’s on the hunt for the perfect vintage piece to rescue

Tor will be stripping, sanding, upholstering numerous chairs fom start to finish, all while trying to sell them on FB Marketplace to raise money for (local charity yet to be determined). The interactions Tor has on Facebook during the sale process of the up-cycled chairs will be displayed on a screen within her space. Viewers will be encouraged to come in watch, ask questions, and buy.

The Strange 2023 program spans the CBD across Forrest Place, Yagan Square, Carillon City, Raine Square, Hay Street Mall, London Court, The Liberty Theatre, Grand Lane, Plaza Arcade, and the State Buildings.

When:  16-25 June

Times: Gates are open Monday to Friday, 7am-9pm
